Dato: 10.01.2024 Svartype: Med merknad I am absolutely disappointed with the proposed cuts to the funding model for independent schools and the unnecessary uncertainty it has created for these schools. My daughter (born 2006) has attended and my son (born 2008) is attending his last year at Trondheim International School that offers the International Baccalaureate curriculum and at the same time prioritises bilingualism in Norwegian and English. My family has been living and working in Trondheim for the last 19 years and independent schools like Trondheim International School provide diversity and choice within Norway's primary and secondary education landscape. This is absolutely crucial for the multi-cultural community we have in Trondheim. We may not have considered living and working in Trondheim if not for the access to such a school. It is disheartening that the Norwegian government does not provide a predictable and stable funding model for independent schools to work in. This hinders a school's strategic planning. It also creates a lot of unnecessary distraction for the administration of the school when the principal and teachers already have their hands full with delivering excellence in the classrooms and their support for the overall development of 6-16 year-olds.
