However, recent efforts to abolish certain visa options, particularly for elderly immigrants, could significantly alter this decision-making process. Norway's harsh weather conditions make the country less appealing to elderly individuals, and for many from Asian countries, including India, the option to bring their elderly parents is often seen as essential for their well-being and family unity. Family is a core value in many cultures, and for these immigrants, having the ability to support aging parents is a fundamental humanitarian right. At current situation requirement is already tough requiring that a single child should have only one parent living in the home country. Further removing even this option will cause significant psychological and emotional toll this could have on immigrants. The mental strain of being separated from family, especially elderly parent that too is single, would not only affect the individuals directly involved but could lead to a broader impact on their overall well-being, productivity, and integration into Norwegian society. By removing the possibility for elderly family reunification, its a risks alienating immigrants who had otherwise seen the country as a land of opportunity. This policy would make the country less attractive to expatriates, leading to a potential loss of valuable talent and skills. Many immigrants from countries like India are employed in skilled positions, contribute to the economy, and pay significant taxes. While other countries like Germany, Poland trying easing family unification so they can attract the talent, can’t understand why Norway wants this other way around knowing the fact that healthcare system might be used more by asylum seekers instead unified single parents. Also, it would be great to know figures by each country in report about use of health care system. I firmly like to oppose this decision and if its still need to implemented please implement for the people where reference itself has not travelled yet to norway so they can rethink again before considering Norway. But for the people who are here already, they should be able to call their single parent instead considering leaving norway itself. Justis- og beredskapsdepartementet Til høringen Til toppen
